The kindergarten students have been enjoying starting the year by exploring ebooks on the iPads. The first week we read the book "There's a Monster at the end of this Book" and then we do the book app of this on the LCD projector. The students love this book. I did, in fact, buy 32 copies of this book app "Monsters 2". I know there are a lot of great free apps out there, but this is a great app and worth the money.
The next week, we viewed Pop Iris's "LIttle Red Riding Hood". This one is great as it reads to the students and stops them with little games/tasks as they are reading. The best part is that they can easily switch it to Spanish. No, wait, the best part is that this is a free app!
The students learned how to use the search feature of the iPad by looking for the "M" or the "R" to find their book. They also could look for the "T" and find "Toy Story". The free app of "Toy Story" from Disney is a keeper. Students can listen to the book being read, record their own voice to hear it, and select from a few additional activities when they are done. This is always a huge hit with students.
